Leslie in Clara Ravens Ep. 4

Leslie Everett - Clara Ravens Ep. 4 Outfit As I mentioned previously, in between working on commissions I’m doing the preproduction for Clara Ravens Episode 4: Colombina’s Illusion. Part of that preproduction is dressing characters in new outfits. Since, once my hardware upgrade has been complete, the frames and animations of the new comic will be rendered in Octane, Leslie’s new outfit needed to be optimized for that render engine. So here is a sample of how she will appear in the new comic. Hope you like her!

More commissions coming this week.

Clara Ravens Ep. 4 – Postponed

Let the shit storm begin…

While I was home this past week, I had that rare time to reflect on the business as a whole; long term goals, scalability, business ideas, etc. I even had a very long conversation with a friend who gave me an incredibly insightful business idea for the DCV, but that’s not why I am posting today. Actually, let me just get right to the point, because I can feel you glaring at me right through the computer already.

Clara Ravens Episode 4: Colombina’s Illusion is being postponed for possibly up to a month in order to allow me time to take some more commissions as I upgrade my system to a fully-realized “Octane-friendly” production rig.

Right now, my staging PC is a beast; it is a very solid rig and perfect for setting everything up, but my render rig is still optimized for rendering in Firefly. I plan on swapping out the vidcard from my main PC (a 4 GB vidcard) with the one from my render rig (only 1 GB). I am then going to purchase an identical card to set up an SLI configuration. However, the motherboard on the render rig does not have two PCI-E x16 slots. So I also have to purchase a new motherboard with those specs. But wait, it gets better! To top it all off, the power supply is only 550 watts in the render rig, and the total power consumption my team calculated to be around 750-770 watts for an SLI config with the two vidcards and all other hardware. So an 800 watt power supply will need to be purchased as well. Continue reading “Clara Ravens Ep. 4 – Postponed”

Back to the Grind

Just dropping a quick line to let everyone know that I just got back from a little ‘vacation’ of sorts. I went home for a family reunion and got back late last night . So I got a good night’s sleep and am resuming work on Clara Ravens Episode 4: Colombina’s Illusion today. No other news related to the comic since I’ve been away for a few days, but I just wanted to keep you all apprised of what’s going on since I know you love your updates and open communication.

On an unrelated note, the affiliate plugin we had planned to use ended up not working out. We’ve gotten a refund and are looking into other options, but since the new comic is our #1 priority, it might not happen for awhile. So, in the meantime, if you’re a webmaster and would like to link Epoch Art, feel free to do so with any of the tons of banners I made for the affiliate program. They can be found on the Banners page.

Check back and the end of this week for another status update (and hopefully some art – BUT NO GUARANTEES!).

Decisions, Decisions…

Clara in Home TheaterI didn’t even want to post this image, but I know you guys love your updates to include gratuitous nudity, so here you go. This was a test render in the first of many sets I am building for my newest DCV-enabled comic, Clara Ravens Episode 4: Colombina’s Illusion. The reason I didn’t want to post it is because of the results I’m getting in Octane, which I feel are subpar from a production standpoint and are really not the level of quality I am comfortable with in any work I’d produce commercially. To put it mildly… this looks like shit.

I’m going to give you insight into what I’ve been going over in my head for the past couple weeks regarding this new release. I’ll preface this by saying that a lot of this will be technical stuff, so if that’s not something you’re interested in reading, then feel free to enjoy the render and move on.
