I didn’t even want to post this image, but I know you guys love your updates to include gratuitous nudity, so here you go. This was a test render in the first of many sets I am building for my newest DCV-enabled comic, Clara Ravens Episode 4: Colombina’s Illusion. The reason I didn’t want to post it is because of the results I’m getting in Octane, which I feel are subpar from a production standpoint and are really not the level of quality I am comfortable with in any work I’d produce commercially. To put it mildly… this looks like shit.
I’m going to give you insight into what I’ve been going over in my head for the past couple weeks regarding this new release. I’ll preface this by saying that a lot of this will be technical stuff, so if that’s not something you’re interested in reading, then feel free to enjoy the render and move on.
I know I promised this on Friday, so I apologize for being late, but I am excited to announce the next DCV-enabled comic currently in pre-production is Clara Ravens Episode 4 “Colombina’s Illusion”. The outline is complete and I am moving on to the story-writing phase tomorrow. This story is similar to the first episode of Clara Ravens in that it doesn’t feature her in any treasure hunting or plundering mission. Last November, we announced a little contest to help gather ideas and features you might want in a new version of the DCV (Dynamic Comic Viewer). While many of the ideas were truly outside of the scope of a simple comic viewer (many were geared towards full-motion video, which is not what this software is intended to be), many of the ideas were rather inspired, if not difficult or impossible to implement at this point.
So while I can say that very few of the ideas found their way into the new version of the DCV, which will be uploaded when Dark Rift is released this Friday, we were nonetheless pleased with everyone’s submissions and eagerness to offer up new perspectives on where the software could go in the future.
July is here, and shit is about to get HOT! We’re making extra-sure the new version of the DCV is stable on all operating systems so we set aside more time for QA than is likely necessary, but we have to allot time for finding bugs and fixing said bugs. So sorry for the wait.
