Guys, I am super-excited about what’s coming next. I thought I’d have lots of promotional art to show you today, but the set is taking much longer to complete than anticipated. It is actually built, but I’ve been tweaking textures, bump and spec maps, lighting and lighting effects, and Octane material shaders to get this looking just right. It is nearly there, but needs a bit more refining. It will be worth it, trust me.
I have to say that I am honestly very pleased with (yet surprised by) the feedback I’ve gotten from you all in the comments of The Dossier Series announcement post. It made me happy to hear that you all seem to care very much about the comics and stories, and encourage a speedy return to my ‘bread and butter’.
That’s not to shit on those who are strictly here for the T&A. I love seeing these girls getting the business just as much as you do. This is erotic art, after all, and we all want copious amounts of sex! That is what The Dossier Series is all about!
So, in the words of Marie Antoinette, “give ‘em what they want”… er, wait… I think that was DMX. I get those two confused. She said the cake-thing…
I am very pleased to announce that Epoch Art has begun a new venture in erotic CG art. In addition to the production of our proprietary dynamic comics, we will also be producing standard image sets featuring character and story tie-ins to the Epoch Art universe. These image sets will be almost entirely porn images, not unlike the works of fantastic erotic artists like Blackadder, Merovingian, and the slew of other artists selling at both Renderotica and Affect3d. The difference is that they will still use our Dynamic Comic Viewer (DCV) technology, so you will be able to keep all of your Epoch Art comics together in one place.
These image sets, dubbed The Dossier Series, will feature characters who may or may not have appeared in other Epoch Art comics, but are nonetheless part of that universe. The particular comic they belong to will be in their ‘dossier’, which will serve as the cover image for the set (see the sample at the
Let the shit storm begin…
While I was home this past week, I had that rare time to reflect on the business as a whole; long term goals, scalability, business ideas, etc. I even had a very long conversation with a friend who gave me an incredibly insightful business idea for the DCV, but that’s not why I am posting today. Actually, let me just get right to the point, because I can feel you glaring at me right through the computer already.
Clara Ravens Episode 4: Colombina’s Illusion is being postponed for possibly up to a month in order to allow me time to take some more commissions as I upgrade my system to a fully-realized “Octane-friendly” production rig.
Right now, my staging PC is a beast; it is a very solid rig and perfect for setting everything up, but my render rig is still optimized for rendering in Firefly. I plan on swapping out the vidcard from my main PC (a 4 GB vidcard) with the one from my render rig (only 1 GB). I am then going to purchase an identical card to set up an SLI configuration. However, the motherboard on the render rig does not have two PCI-E x16 slots. So I also have to purchase a new motherboard with those specs. But wait, it gets better! To top it all off, the power supply is only 550 watts in the render rig, and the total power consumption my team calculated to be around 750-770 watts for an SLI config with the two vidcards and all other hardware. So an 800 watt power supply will need to be purchased as well.
