For those who celebrated it. I hope you had a good thanksgiving.
I’ve slowly made some progress on CR 1 HD but I’m not completely happy with some of the images.
So are too noisy. (Which means a lot of pixels visible instead of smooth beautifull renders.
Unfortunately personal circumstances prohibted me on working more on this.
Luckily yesterday Otoy, the makers of Octane which Epoch and myself use, released version 4 of Octane with a denoiser option, which cuts out almost 50 percent of the noise. Especially in dark enviroments you can now create images. For those interestent more information here: https://home.otoy.com/octanerender-4/
Also render times have been improved. Need to test more with that before i know for certain, but it looks good.
I knew that Epoch did a dark Kendra commission for me a while back. See https://www.epoch-art.com/2017/04/03/kendras-dark-side/
And I also knew the first version of the image didn’t make it, because the noise was too bad.
So it was a good testcase to see what the denoiser did and if it will help.
And huraaah it works :D!
Included in the post a render of the image that was too noisy in the old render.
It’s rather big… but I hope you like it.
Hey everyone, I’m here to drop one last post before the insanity of San Diego Comic Con 2017 begins this week, and what a post it is! Today I give you what can only be described as a ‘commission smorgasbord’. These images were all commissioned by everyone’s favorite site admin Xipomus (He’s not your favorite?! Well why the hell not?!!) and feature a few of the Epoch Art heroines doing stuff… and thangs.
In other news, today and a bit of tomorrow I will working to get the second animation for CR4 set up so it can render over the week I’m away from work while SDCC corrupts my soul. So when I get back to work next week and compile the new animation for the DCV, we’ll be that much closer to release! I appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue to work on getting Clara Ravens Ep. 4 completed, little by little. It WILL be finished this year, guaranteed. That’s all I’m offering in terms of a release date at the moment but I promise that, as soon as the end is in sight, I’ll give a better estimate.
Since part of the inspiration for the Freehope series was the hentai Bible Black, Xipomus proposed a commission idea that I just had to do. It was also my first time using volumetric lighting in Octane, and I can say the result is not worth the render time and the ‘dirtiness’ of the completed render. I think I’ll stick to painting in the effect in the future as I’ve always done, but it was a fun experiment nonetheless. But anyway, Xip gave me a reference photo of one of the Bible Black characters in a robe holding a knife, with sinister under lighting and said he wanted something like that, and Kendra doing another girl with a strap-on dildo. So that’s what this little commission is all about. He suggested the other female be a readhead, since many have mentioned that my character collection is lacking a redhead (with the exception of Leslie… why does everyone forget about her?). So I’m preemptively attaching a render of her too because I know you guys are just gonna ask for one if I don’t include it!
Currently working on a short commission for Epoch Art‘s resident man-in-charge Xipomus, featuring the oldest character in the our catalog, Kendra Blake of Freehope! That commission will be finished and posted soon, but before I even started on it I decided to actually sit down and get poor Kendra up to speed with my current cast of characters in terms of visual fidelity. But, in the process, I managed to create a skin shader that absolutely blew me away! I made versions of it to satisfy sweaty and standard skin conditions, and think this may be my new skin shader for ALL of my characters. It uses subsurface scattering (like all of my previous skins do), but contains a much more subtle skin specularity that adds hugely to a realistic skin look under all lighting conditions. Take a close look at her skin’s reflectivity in certain spots and you’ll see what I mean.
